A micrometer (μm) is one millionth of a meter, or one thousandth of a millimeter. One micrometer is 10-6 m. Often you can also see the entry um, without using the Greek μ. The unit was formerly called the micron.
The decimeter (dm) is a multiple of a meter, equal to 10 centimeters. It's one-tenth of a meter, or 0.1 m. Decimeters are often used in land surveying, among others.
One cubic decimeter (dm3), as a unit of volume, corresponds to one liter.
